Biography
I specialize in providing primary and preventive care to patients who have complex health conditions that originated in childhood. My role includes collaborating with specialists at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital to help patients seamlessly transition from pediatric to adult care. I have received multiple awards for patient care, including for outstanding performance evaluations and for ranking in the top 10% nationally for patient satisfaction.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people with congenital and childhood-acquired syndromes. My mother was a receptionist at a pediatrician’s office, and when I volunteered there, I noticed adult patients who were still being seen by their childhood doctors. It instilled in me a deep desire to do something to help those patients.
My passion has fueled me to lead efforts to continually enhance our patient care capabilities. I serve as director of The Ohio State University Complex Care Program. This new program includes an outpatient clinic and inpatient services to help collaborate care between multiple specialists, the patients and their families. The program opened its first official outpatient clinic in June 2025 and serves a variety of patients with congenital syndromes and childhood onset disease that are dependent on life altering technology, such as Spina bifida, Cerebral Palsy, and complex congenital heart disease.
The OSU Complex Care Clinic will become the region’s first adult institution providing specialized, multidisciplinary care for patients with Williams syndrome in 2026.

Academics and research
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am actively involved in developing interdisciplinary team approaches to congenital heart disease care and improving health care transitions for people with complex needs stemming from childhood. I have presented my findings at regional and national conferences, and I am an invited reviewer for the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
I had exceptional mentors during my training, and I now pay it forward and help educate the next generation of physicians. I have received multiple teaching awards, voted on by medical students and I serve as a portfolio coach for medical students.
Despite managing a busy clinic and teaching, I am passionate about serving my faculty colleagues and our community. I am an elected faculty representative in college governance and serve as president of The Ohio State University College of Medicine Faculty Council. I also serve in a nationally elected position on the Executive Committee for the Section of Medicine & Pediatrics for the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Dr Johnson, in my honest opinion, is a provider beyond reproach
Dr. Johnson is always wonderful to see for anyone in our family. She is attentive to detail and we always feel well cared for. We have recommended her to many friends and family.
Dr. Johnson has been a huge help with my overall health. When I first started meeting with her (nearly a year ago) my primary concern was my weight. I weighed approximately 500 pounds at that point, and with her help I have lost more than 60 pounds since then. It Is drastically Improving my life for the better. She is very supportive and encouraging of all steps I'm taking to continue losing weight. She is well aware of my anxiety issues that I described in my previous answer, and she is very considerate about that; she's very accommodating regarding my agoraphobia and makes me feel comfortable and calm during my visits. She is very kind and helpful, and I feel like I can go to her with any issues that I have (which has not always been the case with other doctors in my past) and receive the proper care.
Listened without interruption, showed care and concern, knowledgeable.

Everything was good
Dr. Johnson was outstanding. Though we are both physician parents, she did a fantastic job taking her time to explain things regarding our child and not just assuming we would know. She has a wonderful and kind demeanor. She is very thoughtful, thorough and helpful.
Dr. Johnson is wonderful. She always takes the time to listen to me and address every question.

Dr. Johnson always listens thoughtfully to my concerns and questions, not only about my health but about other life issues.
Dr. Johnson is very nice and makes me feel like she is on top of my health care. She listens and is caring.
My doctor is great at addressing concerns and formulating a care plan. She helps with recommendations and programs for success with treatment. Overall, I think the MyChart messaging response time could be improved. Sometimes I don't hear back for a week, sometimes it's quick. Just some consistency in response times or answering within the 3 day window would be helpful.
Dr. Johnson is great. She always comes in and sits down to talk and I don't feel rushed through the appt. She listens carefully and asks pertinent questions.
All good. Doctor very knowledgeable about diabetes.
Thorough
Great, very attentive
Great. Thoughtful and engaged me in decision making.
I appreciate Dr Johnson now, more than ever before, because I feel I can trust her to be honest with me. Since the Covid debacle, I don't trust much of the Medical Community and that includes OSUMC.

Great listener, willing to take action for a variety of circumstances.
Dr. Johnson always gives excellent care, and I believe she listens to me when I have concerns. She was also familiar with my past history and most recent treatment for cancer, and was tactful in addressing this history.
All good. Dr Johnson knew my background and followed up on her recommendations.
My doctor listened to my concerns. She completed education about testing she recommended. She took time to have personal conversations with me.
Dr. Johnson is patient and kind, in addition to being an obviously talented and knowledgeable doctor. She takes the time to answer all questions thoroughly and respectfully and demonstrates genuine care for ensuring my health. She is everything you hope to find in a primary care doctor.
Dr Johnson is an excellent primary care doc. She listens and cares. She explains things well. She helps make a plan for all my concerns. She is great!
She was excellent. I was a new patient for her and she was everything and more that my daughter said she would be. She had all of my records pulled up in front of her and she was very knowledgeable. I am not one that likes to come to the doctor, but she made it an enjoyable experience and even threw in a little bit of humor and that goes a long way with me since I am a jokester. She could read my personality and what I needed to help keep me calm and actually enjoy a doctor's visit and that was important.
Wish they had recommend fasting before the appointment and extra water if they think they might do blood work
Dr. Johnson was awesome and able to fit me in last minute. She addressed all my concerns and made me feel seen and heard. She submitted two referrals and I was able to get appointments quickly.
Dr. Johnson's warmth and care is apparent - she has the rare quality of being able to connect well with children and parents simultaneously.
We always receive excellent care
Dr Johnson is the best. I have been a patient with this practice for 25 yrs. Dr Johnson has been the best
I live Dr. Johnson. She's so caring and truly listens to me.
Always happy to listen to me and is on top of my care. And very brigh and caring
Provider seems well educated. Just wish she was more personable. It was my first visit and I didn't feel a good connection. Focused only on 2 of my health problems but didn't discuss anything else going on with me.
Love Dr Johnson. She rocks
Great listener and spends time with patients
