Biography

I specialize in providing primary and preventive care to patients who have complex health conditions that originated in childhood. My role includes collaborating with specialists at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital to help patients seamlessly transition from pediatric to adult care. I have received multiple awards for patient care, including for outstanding performance evaluations and for ranking in the top 10% nationally for patient satisfaction.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people with congenital and childhood-acquired syndromes. My mother was a receptionist at a pediatrician’s office, and when I volunteered there, I noticed adult patients who were still being seen by their childhood doctors. It instilled in me a deep desire to do something to help those patients.

My passion has fueled me to lead efforts to continually enhance our patient care capabilities. I serve as director of The Ohio State University Complex Care Program. This new program includes an outpatient clinic and inpatient services to help collaborate care between multiple specialists, the patients and their families. The program opened its first official outpatient clinic in June 2025 and serves a variety of patients with congenital syndromes and childhood onset disease that are dependent on life altering technology, such as Spina bifida, Cerebral Palsy, and complex congenital heart disease.

The OSU Complex Care Clinic will become the region’s first adult institution providing specialized, multidisciplinary care for patients with Williams syndrome in 2026.

Academics and research

In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am actively involved in developing interdisciplinary team approaches to congenital heart disease care and improving health care transitions for people with complex needs stemming from childhood. I have presented my findings at regional and national conferences, and I am an invited reviewer for the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

I had exceptional mentors during my training, and I now pay it forward and help educate the next generation of physicians. I have received multiple teaching awards, voted on by medical students and I serve as a portfolio coach for medical students.

Despite managing a busy clinic and teaching, I am passionate about serving my faculty colleagues and our community. I am an elected faculty representative in college governance and serve as president of The Ohio State University College of Medicine Faculty Council.  I also serve in a nationally elected position on the Executive Committee for the Section of Medicine & Pediatrics for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
