I am a certified physician assistant with the Department of Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My patients can expect compassion and honest communication during every visit. I prioritize building strong relationships with my patients and their families and use a collaborative approach to ensure the best care possible.
I chose to work in medicine because I am passionate about helping people improve their quality of life. I started my career here at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, focused on treating patients with spinal disorders. I also previously worked as a medical assistant in pain and spine care.

Happy with my provider
No problems. Called me before I left the building to address my blood pressure.
I thought she was nice and she was knowledgeable, but I don't feel she adequately addressed the problem that my back is still in a horrible amount of pain although the abscess site looked good. I'm still having to go back and that's a huge effort for me seeing as I am trying to recover from surgery. This doesn't seem normal the amount of pain I'm in three over three weeks into antibiotics, but she was plenty nice and perky.

She didn't really know an answer to my problems I was having. For a 1 year follow up since surgery I would have liked the surgeon to have been there.

She listened to my complaint and we discussed ordering an MRI and a physical therapy referral. I appreciated that. But I was very disappointed that pain relief was not discussed, and she tried to end the visit before I was offered any interventions to address that. As she was walking out the door I had to stop her and ask if I could try Gabapentin again, or if she had any other recommendations for pain relief.
She outstanding, I feel comfortable with her. She knows my history.

I see Madeline Nelson for my follow up visits. My family and I cannot begin to say how wonderful she truly is. In my past experiences, A medical professional that gives so much attention and shows such genuine care is a rarity! It means a lot that she, and the entire OSU staff has never been judgmental about the addiction problems I had in my life, which actually led to the desperate medical condition that I was in. Truly an A++ provider.

My care provider is Dr. Stephanos Viljoen, has provided beyond all expectations of excellent care for me over the past 2 years. He completed a complicated cervical surgery C2-T2 that required major repair, from a previous surgery, not OSU. Also a recent L4-5 surgery. I am walking again pain free and very grateful. Dr. Viljoen will always be my only spine surgeon.
