My care provider, though a lovely person, did not know how to deal with the issue I came to see her for. After referring me to the person in her office, a dietitian, who actually had the expertise, she continued to try to give me treatment and information for every possible health concern I might have or eventually develop for over an hour. Non of these were issues I have or came to see her for. She gave me no less than 20 handouts. The information in these handouts is common knowledge, but quite lengthy to read. I came to see her, and had spoken to the intake assistant, for a ketogenic diet to help with my epilepsy. She knew less than I do about ketogenic diets. She said there was very little research on them, although this has been researched in children for decades and there are numerous studies on adults. She gave me a handout on general diet. I am in perfect health in terms of my diet and told her multiple times I was there for a ketogenic diet. These diets are not what regular people eat. They are very heavy in fat and protein. The conversation on diet for a regular person was completely unnecessary as I regularly eat very well and balanced and have no health issues other than my epilepsy. Essentially, she wanted an hour and a half of my time and gave me no confidence about her medical expertise.
