About Me

As a physician assistant, I specialize in all aspects of patient care including the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic conditions. Our team manages and treats most orthopaedic issues related to trauma and injury as well as chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis. Some of the most common conditions I encounter are sports injuries and osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. I believe a major part of the treatment process is patient education, so I spend time discussing my patients’ conditions and encouraging questions. My goal is to empower patients with a greater knowledge of their overall health. I’m very passionate about the opportunity to positively impact my patients’ lives.

I am proud to work at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where our mission is to improve people's lives in central Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education and patient care.

I enjoy spending my free time with my wonderful family. They are the most precious and valuable of life's blessings. Together we enjoy traveling, participating in community activities and hanging out with our neighbors and friends.

Matt took so much time with us to describe the injury and make sure we understood the post-op course. He was in no rush at all.

Matt Shirner is great! He is probably among my one or two favorite health care providers at OSU Medical.

Was pleasant, listened fairly well. Was a little confusing regarding complete post-op plan for next several weeks.

Matt was awesome! I can't say enough about him. He took the time to explain things in detail to my husband and I, has a great sense of humor and gave me many different recommendations for other assistive devices. You can tell he cares about his patients.
