About Me
As a colorectal surgery specialist, I focus on treating conditions affecting the large intestine, with a special emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I regularly see patients for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and I serve as surgical lead of the IBD task force here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Patients also come to me for issues such as hemorrhoids, anal fissure, perirectal abscess, anal fistula, pilonidal abscess, and diverticulitis.
I utilize advanced operative techniques that reduce recovery time and decrease recurrence of inflammatory conditions. Furthermore, I pride myself on employing a patient-centered approach to medicine. I always take the time to educate patients on their diagnoses and explain the reasons why we are pursuing a specific course of treatment. My aim is to empower my patients to take an active role in managing their diseases.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am committed to research that advances care for IBD and other colorectal diseases, and I have received national recognition for my work on the microbiome of diverticulitis. My role at Ohio State also includes serving as a mentor to medical students and residents.

In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
