About Me
I am a palliative medicine specialist who treats patients with any kind of serious or life-threatening medical condition, including cancer. I work very closely with each patient’s medical specialists and provide expertise in symptoms management as they undergo medical treatments. I also provide guidance for patients and their families who are facing difficult or overwhelming decisions about their healthcare. My whole job is to help people feel better as they face daunting illnesses, treatments and choices, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
The OSUCCC – James sets itself apart from other places when it comes to palliative medicine. We have a multidisciplinary team of palliative specialists, including physicians, advanced practice providers and pharmacists, all with special expertise in managing complicated problems for patients facing complicated diseases. I work closely with oncologists, surgeons and other medical specialties, as well as social workers, chaplains, art therapists, music therapists, massage therapists and more. I've never worked in a place where so much support is provided to patients and their families.
I love collaborating with all the care teams involved in treating our cancer patients. Everyone at The James works together to make sure that patients receive the most comprehensive and highest quality care possible.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an assistant professor in the Division of Palliative Medicine at The Ohio State University and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American College of Physicians. I am also an ad hoc reviewer for Journal of Palliative Medicine and have had my work published in Journal of Neuroscience.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
