About Me
I’m a neurological surgeon specializing in open and endovascular neurosurgery. Because of my dual training, I can focus on the optimal approach to treat each patient rather than on a specific technique. I received my medical degree and PhD from Duke University and remained at Duke to complete a residency in neurological surgery and fellowship in endovascular/cerebrovascular neurosurgery.
My research focuses on exploiting the properties of RNA biology to better diagnose and treat thromboembolic disease as it pertains to cerebrovascular neurosurgery. I’ve received the American Heart Association’s New Investigator Award and Duke University’s RNA Award for Research within the Department of Genetics. In addition, I have been awarded multiple grants by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a novel and reversible drug to treat patients who present with acute ischemic stroke.
What I love most about The Ohio State University are the extensive resources that are available to patients. From the intensive care unit to the nationally recognized on-site rehabilitation institute, everything a patient needs for treatment and recovery is right here. Being at the forefront of new treatments for neurovascular disease fuels my passion in neurosurgery and helps me provide the most complete care to my patients.
