About Me
As a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the Podiatry Department, I specialize in diabetic foot exams as well as toenail trimming and callus debridement. I assist patients with general foot care and focus on preventative measures to reduce their risk for foot complications related to diabetes. Educating the patient is an important part of what I do as I have been a nurse for over 25 years. Empowering the patient to be an active part of their care is very important to me.
I can manage and treat foot issues such as Fungal toenails, Athletes foot, neuropathy and pre-ulcerative lesions. I can provide prescriptions for Diabetic shoes and custom orthotics and refer patients with more complicated issues such as foot wounds, deformities, infections, or significant pain to our team of Physicians.
I chose to come to Ohio State because of its excellent reputation and collaborative environment. I enjoy working with a great team of professionals dedicated to providing the best patient care at a medical center that offers an abundance of resources to make it all possible.
When I’m not working I love spending time with my husband, our two teenagers and friends. We enjoy traveling together and attending various sporting events.

Tonya was pleasant when she came in my room. She reminded me that Dr. Atway x-rayed my feet and year ago and it showed changes in arthritis, so my feet are going to hurt. She said I could go see him and have the x-rayed again to see if anything had changed, but did not give me any reason for doing this, as it was not going to change anything. She did tell me to take only one anti-inflammatory medication at a time. I agreed as I told her I take them very sparingly and prefer Tylenol due to my stomach issues.

Although ONLY there for my "Annual Medicare Diabetic Foot Exam" she was very succinct and thorough inspecting and examining my feet.DID appreciate her comments, suggestions, directions and attention to my condition. If...If...IF knew In advance that "we offer nail trimmingBy staff every 3 months with little to no appointment required" I certainly would have. Simply acknowledged & thanked her for her words, butThat night, after my toe nails caught on the sheets and my wife griped at me for pulling sheets of her; I thought "oops, should've taken her up".

The best foot care I've ever received.
She was helpful in offering a new suggestion in dealing with a persistent corn that returns often. While it is very small when I walk on it ir pressure is applied it is quite painful. She recommended a type of corn pad that she hoped would offset the pressure in that area. She gave me some to try and showed me on the Amazon app the best ones for my condition.
