Lifeline of Ohio
An independent, nonprofit organization, Lifeline of Ohio (LOOP), promotes and coordinates the donation of human organs and tissue for transplantation. Lifeline of Ohio, a Donate Life organization, has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the designated organ procurement organization (OPO) serving 37 Ohio counties along with Wood and Hancock counties in West Virginia.
The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) is a unified transplant network established by the United States Congress under the National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA) of 1984. The OPTN is a unique public-private partnership that links all professionals involved in the donation and transplantation system. Its primary goals are: 1) increase the effectiveness and efficiency of organ sharing and equity in the national system of organ allocation, and 2) increase the supply of donated organs available for transplantation.
