A bright and colorful display of 7,600 pinwheels, each representing an organ or tissue transplant performed at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center since 1967, will be “planted” on the front plaza of the Medical Center between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. SUNDAY (4/14).

Reporters are invited to cover the activity on Sunday as approximately 35 volunteers place the multi-colored pinwheels in the front lawn of the Wexner Medical Center, 450 W. 10th Ave.  The pinwheels will remain in place the entire month of April.

A short program to honor the organ donors and transplant recipients and to commemorate the pinwheels will be held on the front plaza on Monday, April 15th at 10 a.m.

April is nationally recognized as Donate Life Month.

Ohio State’s Comprehensive Transplant Center is central Ohio’s only adult transplant center and began performing transplants in 1967.
