COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center announces that Matthew Albers will be its new deputy general counsel and senior associate vice president for the Office of Legal Affairs, effective June 1.
Albers joins the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center from Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, where he’s a partner leading mergers and acquisitions for the firm’s healthcare group.
“Matthew brings extensive knowledge and expertise representing academic medical centers and has already built strong relationships with many across the university through his work as outside counsel for several medical center business transactions,” said Dr. Hal Paz, executive vice president and chancellor for health affairs at The Ohio State University and chief executive officer at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
Albers will provide legal guidance on issues related to the academic health enterprise, including business ventures, health care services, scientific research and discovery as well as medical education. He’ll lead all health care transactions, mergers, acquisitions, innovative deal structures and general business knowledge.
He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelors of Arts degree from The Ohio State University.
