Created in 2005, the endowed chair provides additional funding to support Dr. Mohler’s continuing research in abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure and other areas of cardiovascular diseases.
Mohler, who is also associate dean for basic sciences in Ohio State’s College of Medicine, came to Ohio State in 2011 to create new platforms for translational research which has resulted in groundbreaking research discoveries in cardiovascular medicine and other human diseases.
Mohler is the recipient of numerous honors and awards for his work and he has been an invited speaker at research conferences around the world. He also is the lead investigator for numerous research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
Mohler earned a doctorate in molecular physiology in 2000 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in 2004 at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Duke University.
