COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s James Care for Life, Race for Hope and the Columbus chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society will host a community education program for colon cancer survivors and their caregivers and families on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The program will take place at The Ohio State University’s Eye and Ear Institute, 915 Olentangy River Road.
Dr. Mark Bloomston and Dr. Tanios Bakaii-Saab from The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute will discuss the latest surgical options and oncology updates. The program will also include information about stress reduction, symptom management, nutrition, hereditary colon cancer and prevention. The program will have breakouts for Pilates and Tai Chi demonstrations.

Colon cancer is cancer of the large intestine, the lower part of the digestive system. More than 106,000 Americans are diagnosed with colon cancer each year.
