JONES EARNS PLACE IN ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA HALL OF FAME
Grant Jones, MD, sports medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, was chosen as one of five members of the 17th Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class. The award recognizes Academic All-Americas who have achieved lifetime success in their professional careers and are committed to philanthropic causes in the communities where they reside. Recipients are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Jones currently serves as team physician for a number of varsity sports at Ohio State, United States Lacrosse and the Columbus Clippers. He recently served a four-year term as president of the Columbus Orthopaedic Society, was elected to the American Orthopaedic Association and has been selected twice by Columbus Monthly one of the top-10 orthopedic surgeons in central Ohio.
OSU WEXNER MEDICAL CENTER RECEIVES TWO AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN HEART ATTACK CARE
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Receiving Center – Gold Plus Level Recognition Award. This program was created to help ensure prompt, evidence-based care for the life-threatening type of heart attack known as STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction). Achieving the Gold Plus level required meeting stringent quality criteria outlined by Mission: Lifeline for consecutive years. In addition, The OSU Wexner Medical Center was a recipient of a Platinum Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry. This award recognizes participating hospitals that have sustained performance measure score composites of 90 percent or better in the treatment of STEMI patients for eight consecutive quarters.
