ABRAHAM RECOGNIZED WITH 2017 DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST AWARD
Dr. William Abraham, director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, has been awarded the 2017 Distinguished Scientist Award-Clinical Domain by the American College of Cardiology in honor of contributions to the cardiovascular profession. The Distinguished Scientist Award-Clinical Domain is awarded to a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology who has made major scientific contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of cardiovascular disease. The American College of Cardiology is a 52,000-member medical society that is the professional home for the entire cardiovascular care team.


BALIGA RECOGNIZED WITH 2017 GIFTED EDUCATOR AWARD
Ragavendra Baliga, MBBS, FACC, has been awarded that 2017 Gifted Educator Award by the American College of Cardiology in honor of contributions to the cardiovascular profession. The Gifted Educator Award is awarded to a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology who has demonstrated innovative, outstanding teaching characteristics and compassionate qualities and, because of these attributes, has made major contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine at the local and/or regional level. The American College of Cardiology is a 52,000-member medical society that is the professional home for the entire cardiovascular care team.


CENTRAL OHIO THINKFIRST CHAPTER SELECTED AS CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The Central Ohio ThinkFirst Chapter at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has been selected as Chapter of the Year, United States on behalf of the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation. The chapter is led by Ann Smith, injury prevention manager at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. The ThinkFirst National Prevention Foundation Awards Program honors exceptional individuals and chapters demonstrating ThinkFirst excellence. Nominees are those who have conducted outstanding prevention initiatives, provided innovative services beyond local program delivery, and actively support the mission and programs of ThinkFirst. There are 152 total ThinkFirst programs across the country.
