COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dr. Razvan Arsenescu (43210) has been recruited from the University of Kentucky to develop the area’s first Inflammatory Bowel Disease center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is an international expert in the treatment of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) center, staffed by gastroenterologists, surgeons, pathologist, radiologist and nutritionist at Wexner Medical Center,  provides a comprehensive approach to the IBD treatment and immediate access to evidence-based medicine. The IBD centers at Ohio State and Nationwide Children’s Hospital have created a new program that allows a smooth transition from pediatric to adult clinic and offers coordinated care to families afflicted by these chronic diseases.​​

Arsenescu received his medical degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy Targu Mures in Romania. He completed medical residencies at the University of Medicine in Targu Mures, Romania, and S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook in Long Island, New York. He received his doctorate in immunology, genetics and microbiology from The University of Kentucky. His fellowship in gastroenterology was at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition provides clinical service to patients around Columbus and the Midwest region.
