COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jerry Mansfield (43054) has been appointed to chief nursing officer (CNO) for The Ohio State University Hospital and the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Mansfield, a registered nurse who holds a doctorate in public health, started his career at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in 1983 as a staff nurse. He has since served as the chief nursing officer of ambulatory services and an adjunct assistant professor in the Ohio State University College of Nursing. Mansfield also held a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellowship from 2005-2008, which is an advanced leadership program designed to equip executives with skills to lead and shape local and national health care.
“Jerry Mansfield is not only a knowledgeable thought leader in nursing, he is also inspiring and motivating, always bringing new ideas forward,” said Mary Nash, chief nurse executive at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. “We are excited about the leadership Jerry brings to this new position.”
In his new role, Mansfield plans to examine ways to transform how the medical center delivers care to patients and their families to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations in light of the challenges of health reform.
