COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University will break ground for The Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday (10/8) at the facility’s future home at the corner of Ackerman Road and Fred Taylor Drive.

Participants will include Ohio State University President Michael Drake; Dr. Steven Gabbe, CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center; Dr. Christopher Kaeding, executive director of OSU Sports Medicine; Timothy Hewett, director of the Sports Health and Performance Institute; and Jim Crane. OSU Sports Medicine faculty members will be in attendance, along with 20 members of the Crane family and former Ohio State and WNBA basketball star Katie Smith.

The Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute will be the future home of the largest and most comprehensive dedicated sports medicine facility in the country. The $35 million state-of-the-art facility will house 15 interdisciplinary specialties, 160 sports medicine faculty and staff, and four research and performance labs.

The Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute is expected to be completed in fall 2015.
