COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Medical Center will host the 2011 Research Celebration April 6, 7 and 8. The Research Celebration showcases cutting-edge student research in biomedical science being conducted at the OSU Medical Center and at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The 2011 Research Celebration begins with an event sponsored by the Center for Clinical and Translational Science on Wednesday, April 6, at 4:00 p.m. in the Ohio Union. The 10th Annual Trainee Research Day will take place on Thursday, April 7, and will feature research performed by college of medicine research trainees. The Research Celebration will end with a Faculty Collaboration Forum hosted at Nationwide Children's Hospital on Friday, April 8. 

Visitors may view posters and discuss works with presenters throughout the 3-day event, as well as to hear important developments in research from keynote speaker Dr. Jonathan Epstein, chairman of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and scientific director of the Penn Cardiovascular Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Epstein’s work has focused on the genetics and developmental biology of the cardiovascular system, including the genetics of congenital heart disease and the use of stem cells for cardiovascular repair.
