COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jiyan Ma, MD, PhD, associate professor of molecular and cellular biochemistry at The Ohio State University Medical Center, has been invited to serve as a member of the Cellular and Molecular Biology of Neurodegeneration Study Section, Center for Scientific Review at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), assuring the quality of the organization’s peer review process. Ma’s term begins July 1 and will end June 30, 2015. 

Ma was selected to the prestigious scientific post based on his demonstrated competence and achievements in molecular and cellular biochemistry research, as evidenced by the quality of scientific accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other significant honors. 

Members of the scientific review group will contribute to the national biomedical research effort, review grant applications and make appropriate recommendations to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in their fields of science, according to Toni Scarpa, MD, PhD, director of the NIH’s Center for Scientific Review.
