COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired hospitals, according to the 2013 Health Care’s Most Wired Survey, published in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.

“This national award means a lot to us because it represents that we are doing our best to leverage technology to improve the care for our patients,” said Phyllis Teater, chief information officer at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center.

This year, a total of 15 Ohio hospitals received the award. Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center has been on the national Most Wired list for 11 years.

More than 650 U.S. hospitals and health care organizations participated in the 14th annual survey and more than  250 received the designation based on evaluations in four areas: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration.

This annual survey gauges how organizations are planning for, utilizing and securing information technology across the entire enterprise, serving as a roadmap for how hospitals are using IT to transform their organizations.
