COLUMBUS, Ohio – One man will race with more than  400 women to raise awareness for women’s heart health in this year’s One Lucky Buckeye wellness event, hosted by The Ohio State University Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital on Sunday, Sept 22 at Grandview Yard, 900 Goodale Blvd.

One Lucky Buckeye is an all-female race in which one ‘lucky’ male Buckeye is nominated to run 8 miles with the women. This year’s One Lucky Buckeye is Richard Jacob, a 63 year old heart transplant recipient. Jacob received his new heart in 2009 from a 19-year-old woman donor, making every heart participating in the race female.

Media representatives are asked to call the Media Relations office at 614-293-3737 to make arrangements to cover this event. There will be opportunities to speak with the One Lucky Buckeye, Richard Jacob, as well as other race participants.

Participants will walk or run 2, 4 or 8 miles through Grandview Heights. The race proceeds will benefit cardiovascular patient care and life-saving research at Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital and The Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute.

One Lucky Buckeye is one of several events in The Ohio State University’s Ross Heart Hospital Wellness Series. Other events have included 5Ks, a mud run, an obstacle course and a triathlon.
