COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, 150 W. Main St. in New Albany, will host a free community open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, and will officially open to members at 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15. Media are invited to attend the community open house.

Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center will feature the most advanced fitness equipment in central Ohio, portable technology to monitor fitness progress and research-backed knowledge and expertise from Ohio State, all with the goal of helping members achieve their fitness and wellness goals. 

“We realize that every person is different. Age, weight, genetics and fitness vary dramatically for each of us. So every person’s path to health and fitness must be customized based on comprehensive wellness assessments. There’s nothing routine about it,” Dr. Thomas Best, medical director of Ohio State’s Health and Fitness Center. 

The Health and Fitness Center will feature personal wellness coaching along with a large aquatics area and group exercise classes. The Ohio State team of experts includes a registered dietitian, a registered nurse, a physician, exercise physiologists, physical therapists and fitness specialists. Ohio State’s Health and Fitness Center members will be offered specialized plans in heart health, weight loss, mobility, cancer prevention and recovery as well as one-on-one personal wellness coaching for ongoing support.
