COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Center for Integrative Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Ohio State’s College of Social Work will host U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) at 2 p.m. March 20 in the Great Hall Meeting Room in the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.

Ryan’s presentation, “Mindful Leadership in an Era of Change,” is a free community event and will be followed by a reception and book signing. His talk will highlight principles he outlines in his book, “A Mindful Nation: How a Simple Practice Can Help Us Reduce Stress, Improve Performance, and Recapture the American Spirit.”

The six-term congressman who represents the 13th District that includes Youngstown, Streetsboro, Lordstown and parts of Akron, Trumbull County, Portage County, Mahoning County, Summit County, will be available to talk to media before and after his presentation.

Through meditation and mindfulness, Ryan found that what people see, hear, and think about in their minds has a direct effect on their bodies. Ryan wrote “A Mindful Nation” to promote the value and benefits of slowing down, taking care of ourselves, being kind, and helping each other. He believes that embracing these values individually will benefit America collectively.
