As a fellow, you will train under some of the nation’s top clinicians, educators and researchers. We have a highly collaborative faculty network, formal research seminars, informal presentations, journal reviews and didactic lectures that will stimulate your intellect and encourage you in the development of an outstanding career. Fellows who complete training in our programs will be eligible for board certification via UCNS criteria.
Curriculum for Our Three Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Tracks
We offer three tracks within our Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship, a joint program between Ohio State and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, that include EEG, EMG, epilepsy, neuromuscular clinic and sleep studies. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), these one-year subspecialty training experiences provide extensive hands-on exposure to a variety of neurophysiologic tests and subspecialty clinics.
Clinical Neurophysiology with Pediatric Emphasis
The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital offer an ACGME-accredited, one year Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship. The emphasis of the program is the pediatric population. The overarching goal of the fellowship is to prepare neurologists who are comfortable with all aspects of pediatric clinical neurophysiology. In addition, by the end of the program the fellow will have acquired the knowledge needed to successfully achieve certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology. These goals are achieved through clinical and research experiences.
Clinical Neurophysiology with Epilepsy and EEG Emphasis
This program trains you in a variety of neurophysiologic tests and subspecialty clinics as well as in the diagnosis and management of epileptic and non-epileptic seizures. You will participate in both pediatric and adult epilepsy clinics, outpatient EEG labs and inpatient epilepsy monitoring units. Some of your time will also be spent in the EMG laboratory. Training in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring is also available.
Clinical Neurophysiology with Neuromuscular and EMG Emphasis
This program provides extensive hands-on exposure to a variety of neurophysiologic tests and subspecialty clinics with participation in a wide array of clinical research programs under the guidance of fellowship faculty. You will train in both pediatric and adult neuromuscular diseases with a strong emphasis on electrodiagnosis. You will also have the opportunity to perform muscle and nerve biopsies and receive instruction in the interpretation of these biopsies. Expect to spend some time in the EEG laboratory and be exposed to intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring as well.
