Digital waitlist can get you in sooner to see the doctor

No one likes waiting. Particularly when you don’t feel well and your appointment isn’t as soon as you’d like.

Getting a faster appointment is ideal. This is the goal of MyChart Fast Pass – a digital waitlist tool available to patients of Ohio State.

This automated feature offers earlier appointments based on open appointment time with providers, reducing the time you have to wait for your visit.

How does MyChart Fast Pass work?

Think of Fast Pass as a digital waitlist. Once you are on the waitlist (keep reading on how to sign up), you will be sent a MyChart notification alert when an earlier appointment becomes available.

Notifications are sent to five patients based on scheduling priority and the time patients are waiting on the waitlist. The first patient to accept the appointment gets the new appointment.

You have 12 hours to claim the earlier time slot.  If no one accepts the appointment, the system will look at the next five patients.

How do I sign up for MyChart Fast Pass?

Signing up for Fast Pass is easy through MyChart, using either the Ohio State MyHealth mobile app or the MyChart website. Log in to Ohio State MyChart and navigate to Visits → View Appointments to add yourself to the waitlist for potential Fast Pass offerings.

To receive notifications on your mobile phone or through email for Fast Pass offers, go to Settings →Notifications and check your email and text settings to make sure you are signed up to get earlier appointment times. Remember, if you disable notifications, you may not find out about an earlier appointment until it’s too late.

Why can’t I sign up for MyChart WaitList?

Not all future appointments and tests are eligible for Fast Pass. Appointments that occur within three days are not eligible for Fast Pass.  Additionally, your provider may require you to have a certain number of days between appointments or may have other scheduling restrictions that prevent every appointment from being eligible for Fast Pass.  Appointments for tests, procedures, surgeries and hospital admissions are not eligible for Fast Pass.
