Preoperative Nurse

Preoperative nurses work alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals to prepare patients for surgery. This process involves evaluating the state of the patient from a physical and psychological perspective, and ensuring they are fit to undergo the procedure. After the patient is prepped, care is passed on to the intraoperative nurse. One of our pre-op nursing jobs may be the start of your career at Ohio State.

Intraoperative Nurse

The intraoperative nurse is responsible for caring for the patient after the pre-op process is over, and when they are moved to the operating table. This nurse will remain with the patient until the point they are moved to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to be anesthetized and prepped for surgery, at which point their duties are complete. We understand the value of these PACU RN positions. We hope you consider one of our intra-op nursing jobs.

Postoperative Nurse

Postoperative (PACU) nurses take care of patients after surgery while they are recovering from the effects of anesthesia. Our postop nursing jobs are responsible for monitoring patient vitals, ensuring the patient is returning to consciousness at the proper rate and keeping an eye out for any side effects.

Operating room nurses at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center get to make a meaningful impact at one of the leading Level I trauma centers in the state. There are also opportunities to work on same-day surgery, inpatient operating rooms and outpatient surgical centers.
