Physician, Assistant Professor
Gastroenterology
Department: Internal Medicine
I chose to become a physician because I’m passionate about helping people improve their health and their quality of life. As a gastroenterologist, I specialize in treating disorders of the digestive track, as well as performing upper and lower endoscopies including those for colon cancer screenings.
My patients can rely on me as a partner in their health care journey. I take the time to listen to each patient’s concerns and empower them to take an active role in their GI care.
I chose to remain in academic medicine because it allows me to pursue two passions: helping patients improve their health and educating the next generation of physicians. It’s a privilege to be back at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and have the opportunity to mentor medical students, residents and fellows.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my dog. I also like hiking and traveling.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Rally took time to discuss medical issues and past procedures
He didn't have my medical history nor really took into consideration what I stated I have gone through already with other doctors over the last year. I feel like I'm starting the process all over again with a new doctor and getting help will take forever. I'm trying to stay hopeful though.
Listen to what I had to say
Was genuinely concerned did not get in a hurry to leave and make sure you answered all my questions absolutely fantastic experience
He was very, very good.
Initial visit - absolutely great
Dr Hooper spent a lot of time addressing my concerns and was very knowledgeable. I have been treated by several doctors for gastroparesis for over 10 years and Dr Hooper explained things that other doctors were failing to explain. He spent as much time as was needed explaining my options for a colonoscopy and how those options would work with my healthcare.
First time meeting Dr. Hooper - he was phenomenal! +attitude, +bedside manner, +communications, +excellent explanation of recent testing and available results and plan of care.
He was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, spoke in words I could understand. He explained the results of a recent test.
He was wonderful as always. I really feel like he hears my concerns and makes treatment plans that are easy to follow. I usually have a lot of questions and he takes the time to answer them throughly or follows up with me if need be.
Dr Hooper listened, read the background I provided to him. Has a great balance in listening to me, asking good questions and offering his insight into what was causing my issue. I have strong trust in him
