About Me
As a dermatologist specializing in general dermatology, I treat patients with a variety of dermatologic conditions including acne, warts, rashes and skin cancer. In addition to treating my patients’ dermatologic conditions, I also educated them about their conditions to further their understanding of their individualized treatment plans.
My approach to care is guided by my passion for teaching. I love working in an academic medical center where I’m able to teach medical students and residents about dermatology. Working at Ohio State allows me to spend more time with patients than if I were in private practice. I want my patients to feel that I have listened to and understand their concerns. Additionally, because of our specialty clinics and access to clinical trials at Ohio State, I am able to offer my patients cutting-edge treatment options!
When I’m not working, I enjoy relaxing with my family, reading, playing board games, watching movies and spending time outdoors.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. While provider listened to me, I got the impression that she really did not want to take care of a growth immediately so I agreed to a longer resolution. At my car, regretted my acquiescence to the longer resolution. I take half the blame as this was the main reason I went to the provider.

Excellent experiences. She is well informed, very thorough, has excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to develop immediate rapport with others. She actively listened to all my questions, and answered and explained them in a way that was easy to understand. Her upbeat demeanor is contagious. She is a dermatologist and I was itching like crazy to something I was allergic to. It usually takes months to see her, but the staff fit me in within a couple days. I was so relieved, if you can imagine. I am so blessed to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Ulham was very kind and professional. She handled two issues during this visit. The 1st issue she made a product recommendation. The 2nd issue she gave me an injection, a prescription for an ointment, plus a prescription for antibiotic if needed. Dr. Ulham gives me complete care ALWAYS!

Dr. Ulman removed a mole on my back that she thought looked like it had changed within the past 3 months and it ended up being melanoma. I would have never even noticed this mole as it was on my low back. This is the second time she has found and removed melanoma. As soon as my test resulted as melanoma, she called me on the phone to discuss next steps, even though I have been through this process before. She is very kind and positive too. I wish she was my PCP.

The skin check/cancer screen was very quick compared to my previous doctor. It seemed a bit less thorough- never looked under my bra for example. Dr. Ulman does do a good job of putting you at ease during the exam.

Honestly I haven't had great experiences with dermatologists in the past, so it means a lot that I've been pretty pleased with Catherine Ulman. Very thorough, explained things to me so I'd understand what she was doing and why, told me what to watch for for certain areas, prescribed medicine for me and told me how to take it/put it on, showed genuine concern for me and my feelings (my mom just passed and I'm still emotional), paid attention to what I said as far as my skin health, was able to remove a cyst on my head by manipulation--was gentle and told me when it was going to hurt and was extremely sensitive to my pain level. I love this Dr and she is my primary dermatologist now!!!
