Biography

As a primary care doctor and the lead physician for the General Internal Medicine Clinic at Ohio State Outpatient Care East, I diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions every day. I appreciate the opportunity to help my patients enhance their overall wellness and quality of life, and I feel humbled to have been named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly for the plast several years.

Connecting with patients and being part of their lives is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. My patients know they can turn to me anytime for assistance and advice. I strive to offer the knowledge my patients need to make the best possible decisions about their health care, and I always work collaboratively with them to develop treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and values.

I am especially passionate about improving medical literacy. I consider myself an educator for my patients as I teach them about better health and how best to manage their chronic health conditions. I’ve also helped develop several medical podcasts including 'The Cribsiders,' which focuses on pediatric issues. In addition, it is a privilege to help train residents and medical students in my role as the director of education for the General Internal Medicine Division. I have been honored to receive multiple teaching awards.

My research interests include how we can better use digital media and other non-traditional platforms for education and scientific advancement. I am the Director of Digital Scholarship, which involves overseeing and helping faculty members develop non-traditional scholarly work.

The Ohio State University has been an amazing place to work. I appreciate the commitment to innovation, the opportunity to shape my career path and pursue novel research, and the vast array of resources that allow me to provide the highest quality care possible for my patients.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my wife and our four boys. I enjoy fly fishing, audio and video creation, and building movie prop replicas.

Dr. Chiu is the best of physicians. In addition to knowing my medical history, he always remembers personal, little things that we have talked about/shared in the past and will ask me questions about those things. I feel like he knows me/cares about me as a person. It helps me to feel more comfortable and confident during my office visits with him. I trust and respect him very much.
