I am a clinical rheumatologist who regularly treats patients for various conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, vasculitis, and lupus. My special focus has been on caring for people with myositis, which encompasses a rare group of rheumatological disorders that cause the immune system to attack the body’s muscles. I helped to establish Ohio’s first comprehensive, multidisciplinary Myositis Clinic and I serve as its co-director.
When patients come to see me, they can trust that I will do everything I can to provide unparalleled clinical care customized to their specific needs and values. I chose to specialize in rheumatology because I’m passionate about solving complex case scenarios and finding solutions that work best for each patient. My interest was also sparked by my mother, who has rheumatoid arthritis.
I have felt very welcome since joining the team at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and I identify with the shared mission to improve health care through transformations in research, education, patient care, and community engagement. I’m proud to help drive innovation through my various leadership roles here at Ohio State, which include director of clinical operations for the Division of Rheumatology and director of the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinic.
My research efforts have been centered on therapeutics in rheumatology. I am currently serving as the principal investigator for three clinical trials involving patients with various forms of myositides. The studies include innovative therapies for conditions such as dermatomyositis and polymyositis. In addition to clinical trials, I collaborate with other researchers on a few other projects.
My role at Ohio State includes helping train the next generation of physicians and I am an assistant professor of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. As a member of the Clinical Competency Committee, I help develop policies and guidelines for the Rheumatology fellowship. This role has included helping to develop and implement the musculoskeletal ultrasound curriculum.
In addition to my clinical and academic responsibilities, I also serve on the Rheumatology Clinic Steering Committee.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband, who is an oncologist at the OSUCCC – James, our three daughters, and our extended family and friends. I enjoy gardening and traveling.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
