About Me
I’m a neurosurgeon specializing in open and endovascular neurosurgery. I am one of a small number of dual-trained vascular neurosurgeons in the nation. I received my medical degree from the Buffalo School of Medicine in New York, and I completed an internship and residency in neurological surgery at Georgia Regents University. Additionally, I finished a fellowship in open and endovascular neurosurgery at Emory University.
My research interests include the inflammatory and vascular response to subarachnoid hemorrhage, novel therapeutic modalities for complex aneurysms, evaluation of new devices and techniques for the treatment of neurovascular disorders, and the prevention and treatment of vasospasm. In 2019, I served as president of The Ohio State University Neurosurgical Society and was appointed as endovascular/cerebrovascular fellowship director.
I enjoy working in The Ohio State University’s academic setting, where I can participate in resident education, research and clinical care. Everything a patient needs for their treatment and recovery is here, and it is a privilege to collaborate with other providers who value excellence in health care. Together, we provide our patients comprehensive and individualized care.

Reassuring. Competent.
Everything was good
Dr. Youssef is, by far, one of the most congenial, compassionate, and professional medical professionals I've encountered. As a result of an emergent situation, I was treated at a non-OSU facility (not one I would have chosen otherwise). The experience was horrible and, as soon as possible, I requested a second opinion. My regular provider referred me to OSU's Dr. Patrick Youssef. Night and day difference in the quality of care - consistently positive experience from the administrative staff right through to my appointment with Dr. Youssef. Dr. Youssef quickly assuaged my concerns. He explained that what the original facility had diagnosed was not as egregious as initially indicated and that the additional testing they had recommended actually carried a greater risk than periodic monitoring of the condition. He explained his assessment is layman's terms, utilized a graphic representation to further ensure my understanding, and punctuated the visit with light-hearted humor. I left my appointment feeling completely at ease, confident in his assessment, and no longer stressed about the initial diagnosis made at the other facility. I highly recommend Dr. Youssef to anyone needing neurological care.
