Biography
I am a board-certified podiatric surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of foot and ankle conditions. My clinical expertise includes foot deformities ranging from simple bunions to complex structural abnormalities, as well as plantar fasciitis, hallux valgus, flatfoot, and chronic wounds. I have advanced training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and cutting-edge treatment approaches, which allow for faster recovery, less postoperative pain, and better long-term outcomes.
My practice is focused on innovative surgical care, deformity correction, limb salvage, and wound healing, supported by a strong foundation in preventive strategies. I emphasize proactive treatment not only for patients with chronic or high-risk conditions but also for young athletes and individuals seeking to maintain active, mobile lifestyles across the lifespan. My goal is to help patients preserve long-term function, avoid injury, and achieve their activity goals safely and effectively.
Patients can expect high-quality, compassionate care and honest, clear communication at every stage of treatment. I collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each patient receives a personalized care plan tailored to their specific needs and goals.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an associate clinical professor in the department of orthopaedics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and as residency director for the podiatric medicine and surgery residency program. I am deeply committed to medical education, surgical training, and advancing the field of podiatric medicine through clinical excellence and patient-centered innovation.

I am extremely happy with my care. Everything is thoroughly explained. I felt my concerns were addressed and have a great deal of trust in my provider. I had a procedure on my foot and experienced very little discomfort, it was great.

I spoke with the resident assigned to me, explained my situation and was told that he would shave a callous off the bottom of my left foot. After I then expressed concern over the nail on my big toe on my right foot, the resident acted like my concern was no big deal. I then asked if he could trim my toe nails -- which he did. However the toe nail trim was jagged and needed smoothed out. I asked if he would do that and he said I could do it later. When I put my socks back on the roughness of my toe nails made it difficult to put in my socks. I asked again if he could PLEASE file down the rough places on them. He looked in a couple of drawers in the exam room before announcing that there were no nail files there to complete the job. Once again he suggested that I could buy some at the pharmacy and take care of this by myself. About the same time, Dr. Atway entered the room, had no time for small talk, asked me why I was there, confirmed what the resident had done to me and then recommended that I schedule a return visit in 3 or 4 months. He then immediately left the exam room. I felt as though my presence there was an inconvenience for Dr Atway and the main reason I scheduled the appointment was because when I met with him previously, he was friendly and nice and he told me to come back and see him if the callous on my left foot returned, causing pain
