Biography

As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in treating patients with mood, anxiety and personality disorders. I enjoy helping people to live more satisfying and productive lives through the use of evidence-based treatments. I have special training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as third-wave and mindfulness-based treatments. My goal is to advance psychological knowledge through research, service and education.

I earned my PhD at Ohio State and am happy to continue my time here as a Buckeye and serve the central Ohio community.

Academics and research

I provide evidence-based interventions for mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. I specialize in mindfulness-based interventions and directs the mindfulness-based cognitive therapy program. I am actively involved in research, education, and administrative efforts.

My research has concentrated on the characterization of interpersonal functioning in individuals with disorders of emotion dysregulation. I have a particular interest in methods that examine social networks characteristics as indices of interpersonal dysfunction. In addition to this, I am currently interested in understanding the effect of mindfulness-based interventions on populations with comorbid mental and physical illnesses and investigating the role of mindfulness on interpersonal processes.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
