About Me
I'm a proud member of Buckeye Nation having completed my undergraduate and medical school studies at Ohio State. After that, I completed an emergency medicine residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
I have been on faculty at Ohio State since 1998. Since arriving at Ohio State, I have served as clerkship director of the mandatory 4th-year EM clerkship, directed a required 3rd-year clinical procedural course, and served as assistant dean of clinical sciences in the College of Medicine where I helped develop Ohio State's Lead.Serve.Inspire medical school curriculum. Currently, I'm a professor of emergency medicine and program director of the EM Residency Program.
In addition to my primary role as PD, I also serve as director of patient care competency in the College of Medicine. I have received the EM Teacher of the Year Award on numerous occasions, Distinguished Faculty Award from the College of Medicine, ACEP National Teaching Award, Ohio State Faculty Alumni Award, and most recently was designated a Master Teacher by the College.
I have been very active in CDEM (ie., previous CDEM President), SAEM, CORD, ABEM (i.e., item writer, oral examiner) and NBME (i.e., multiple committees). My scholarly interests focus primarily on medical education.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Khandelwal has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
