Biography
I am a palliative medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the OSUCCC – James. My expertise lies in managing distressing symptoms while providing holistic support that addresses psychosocial and spiritual needs. I draw on my communication training to enhance empathetic communication strategies, which I believe are essential for fostering open dialogue and shared decision-making throughout the health care journey. I have a particular interest in caring for adolescents and young adults facing life-limiting serious illnesses.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and am a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I find immense fulfillment in educating the next generation of physicians, mentoring students at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and training residents and fellows.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Wood has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
