I am Achuthan Sourianarayanane, MBBS, MD, and I specialize in hepatology and fatty liver disease at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on evaluating, treating and managing liver conditions, with a particular interest in helping patients achieve better liver health through individualized, evidence-based care.
As a physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition within the Department of Internal Medicine, I work closely with patients to understand their health concerns and develop treatment plans tailored to their needs. I care for individuals with a range of liver disorders and am committed to providing clear guidance and support throughout their care.
My approach emphasizes collaboration, patient education and shared decision-making. I am Achuthan Sourianarayanane, MBBS, MD, clinical professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in the Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I specialize in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASHand fatty liver disease. My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms, diagnosis and progression of liver disease using lipidomics and proteomics approaches.
My work is centered on advancing knowledge of fatty liver disease and identifying biological pathways that influence disease development and outcomes. Through translational research, I seek to improve the understanding of liver health and uncover opportunities for earlier detection, risk stratification and more personalized approaches to care.
I am particularly interested in leveraging lipidomics and proteomics to better characterize metabolic liver diseases and the factors that contribute to disease progression. By integrating emerging technologies with clinical research, my goal is to generate insights that support future innovations in the prevention, diagnosis and management of liver disease.
