Biography
With dual board-certifications in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, I provide medical weight management care with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Comprehensive Weight Management Program. The team’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to providing the best possible health care is inspiring, and I’m proud to be part of it.
I am interested in preventive medicine, women’s health, nutrition and lipid management. The most common conditions I treat include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, coronary artery disease, hypothyroidism, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), anxiety, depression and binge eating disorder.
I am passionate about partnering with my patients to help them safely reach their weight loss goals and achieve optimal health. I utilize a patient-centered approach and believe in developing strong, lasting relationships with each person I treat. When patients come to see me, they can expect compassion, respect and clinical excellence. I work collaboratively with patients and their families to manage and optimize their physical health and overall well-being.
My research focuses on obesity medicine, and I am committed to increasing awareness of evidence-based medical treatments for obesity. I am a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association, serve on the editorial board for Obesity Pillars Journal and have been invited to lecture nationally and internationally as an obesity medicine expert.
My role includes helping to educate the next generation of physicians as an assistant clinical professor of Internal Medicine in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I also serve as the obesity medicine elective director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Additionally, I have developed curriculum with the Obesity Medicine Association as a member of the Clinician in Training Education Committee.
I am an avid hiker and yogi. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, mastering challenging trails and exploring new techniques on my yoga mat.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Allison Rhodes has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
