About Me
I’m a neurosurgeon specializing in all types of spine disorders, including scoliosis and complex deformity surgery, robotic spine surgery, spine trauma, and minimally invasive spine surgery. I received my medical training at the University of Minnesota and completed my neurosurgery residency at the University of Iowa. Additionally, I completed a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at Rush University in Chicago.
I’m actively working on research projects focusing on mechanisms that cause spinal degeneration, including how disorders such as scoliosis affect global spine health. My research also explores how to optimally treat these degenerative and deformity spine conditions. I'm the program director for the Neurosurgery Residency Program, as well as the Fellowship Director for our Complex Deformity and Robotic Spine Fellowship. I serve as an educator for residents, medical students, and undergraduate students. I received The Ohio State University Lawrence Mervis Teacher of the Year Award for the 2017-2018 academic year. On football game day, I also help cover The Ohio State University football team and provide care for players suffering from head and spine injuries.
What I enjoy most about my work at The Ohio State University is educating residents and medical students in the neurosurgery department. By working with them, I’m able to inspire the next leaders in Neurosurgery, and help them provide positive outcomes to all of their patients.

Very nice. Answered questions and listened to my concerns.
Dr Grosbach listened, did not rush me through the visit and was very clear in the information that he provided me. He was able to reassure me that my pace of recovery was normal and that he was available for any questions or concerns I might have.
Very good.
He was good on all and explained all types of treatments.

Very knowledgeable great bedside manner.
He made recommendations to avoid surgery (physical therapy)
Very nice person. Concern about my health. Ask if I had try things like physical therapy and getting steroid shots. I said yes but the shots do not help any more and I recently had physical therapy and it didn't so he suggested surgery . He explain the procedure and what is use. He asked did I want to proceed and I said and I wasn't pressured.

My experiences were excellent. I really like this provider. He Is very kind and listens well. Very competent. One of the best caregivers I have.
He was nice but not overly friendly. He was in the room with me maybe 10 minutes. Didn't seem too concerned. I know he is busy I was his first patient after he did rounds at the hospital. Maybe he wasn't quite in his office mode yet.
Always good and caring.
The doctor was very understanding. Had a line of things we could do right away - refreshing.
Dr. Grossbach has a wonderful bedside manner that instills comfort and confidence during my visit.
Outstanding explained options well
Attentive but did not manage my expectations in communicating when Dr Grossbauch was running behind
Top notch - Dr. Grossbach. Takes as much time needed, patient, understanding and compassion.
He explained X-ray and MRI results well, answering questions as he went. Very compassionate and empathetic to my condition. Also explained possible options to consider. He was very helpful, and I didn't feel rushed.
All was good. I forgot to ask a few things. I did not call the offices because I used MY CHART.
Great experience great experience
Dr. Grossbach very helpful, answered all of my questions - appeared to be interested in providing a plan to help my pain.
Unfortunately, he shared information with me I didn't want to hear. That's not his fault. He was kind.
Takes time to describe my options. Makes me feel comfortable about my situation.
Love Dr. Grossbach
Dr. Grossbach (provider) listened to me and did not rush visit.
Dr. Grossbach is a great doctor. If it wasn't for him. I probably wouldn't be here today. He has my full faith and trust in his skills as a neuro surgeon.
Excellent care by provider.

He is awesome.
Kind, professional, definitely showed concern about my well being
He listened made some recommendations explain the x-ray I was satisfied w/him.
Because I brought my MRI on a disk, Dr. Grossbach could review it prior to entering the exam room. He was able to then explain the approach he would suggest for correcting my issues.
My experience was excellent. He explained everything in such a way that made it easy to understand.

Dr. Grossbach is very patient & understanding.
His care has made a huge difference in my quality of life.
All Good!
I find my back issues to be complicated including on those issues relate to my hip replacement, and wish there would have been more discussion about my back issues in lay terms and some holistic conversation as to how hip issues may or may not relate. Some problem w/hip surgeon. Each doc does not want to talk about anything outside very narrow specialty.
Good - Very professional and very caring.
Very caring - attentive to my questions - easy to understand answers - pleasant - liked him a lot! Felt very easy.
