I'm an ophthalmologist, specializing in the cornea and external eye disease. I interact with a variety of patients, including people from other countries. It's a different experience every day.
Ohio State offers the latest equipment and treatments. We help people who couldn't be helped elsewhere. I'm very honest and upfront with patients who have difficult cases. Sometimes we have to say, "It's a bad problem, but we'll do everything needed to treat you."
I customize treatment to a patient's needs and personality. I may treat two patients with the same problem differently. For example, one patient may not want surgery, or another may not be able to manage complex treatment regimens.
Being able to restore sight to a person is rewarding. On post-operative days, medical students rotating with our specialty have said it's amazing. They are able to visit with patients the day after surgery with an improvement in vision that is better than it has been in years, or their entire life.
Restoring a patient’s sight so that they can see to read the morning paper or their hymnals or write letters to their grandchildren again is very rewarding.

I have great respect for the doctor
Dr. Hendershot was everything I hoped for. I chose him for my surgery. He was excellent in all respects. Knowledgeable, positive, procedure done expertly, very courteous of my feelings and put me st ease.

Dr. Hendershot is very good. Although he answers my questions, he always seems to be in a hurry and rushed, so sometimes I forget to ask him something. But he and his office are quick to respond to my questions via my chart.

Dr. Hendershot is just amazing. He's tenacious, if you're not 100%, he doesn't stop until you are.He listens, and he explains his findings in an easy to grasp way. I feel like I could ask a hundred questions, and he would not leave the room until he was satisfied that I had complete understanding.

The doctor spent about 15 minutes with me. We discussed my previous treatment. We also discussed medication's that I've been on before for this issue and next steps that he felt were necessary. He was very informative. He provided me with samples of the medication we would like to use for this condition. The prior authorization was denied. I called his office and received a prescription for the formulary that my medication insurance would approve. He also recommended scleral lenses. We set up an appointment to investigate that further as well, as an appointment to take a plaquinel picture of my eyes. I look forward to working with Dr. Hendershot further on this diagnosis in finding a pathway forward to better vision
