About Me
I am an internal medicine physician specializing in caring for patients with complicated medical conditions while they are in the hospital. I serve as medical director of the Transfer Center and lead one of the Acute Care Nursing Units at 11 East Rhodes. I am on several operations committees related to my leadership roles, and I am passionate about contributing to interdepartmental projects and initiatives designed to enhance our patient care.
When I was younger, my grandfather spent time in the hospital. I was inspired by the providers who treated him, and I decided I wanted to care for people in similar situations. It’s deeply rewarding to help people manage their health problems.
My patients can rely on me to help them navigate their complex health care issues every step of the way, and that I will connect them with the multidisciplinary resources they need. I especially enjoy building relationships with my patients and their families, and the ability to offer support during unexpected illnesses.
I love working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because of the opportunity to provide excellent clinical care, as well as to help educate the next generation of physicians. I am an assistant clinical professor of Internal Medicine within The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I was proud to receive a Resident Teaching Award from the Division of Hospital Medicine and an Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Internal Medicine.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Buettner has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
