About Me
With more than 20 years of nursing experience and 11 years as a nurse practitioner, I’m passionate about providing the best care for my patients and implementing evidence-based solutions for improved outcomes in cardiovascular disease. I primarily treat patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias and valvular heart disease. I show patients I’m invested in their health and well-being by making them feel validated and keeping them in the loop. Before creating a care plan, I get to know more about my patients to have a better idea of what will get them back to a quality life. I listen to questions or concerns and make sure to keep in mind anything that’s important to the patient throughout diagnosis and treatment.
The support of my fellow cardiac physicians, nurse practitioners, administration and leadership allows me to practice autonomously but collaboratively. I’m excited about having more opportunities to advance my career in cardiovascular medicine, even outside of clinical care. For example, I’m proud to mentor advanced nursing students from The Ohio State University College of Nursing.
One of my research interests is uncontrolled hypertension. I stay up to date with the most recent lipid management and hypertension guidelines to aid my projects. For my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, I’m working on a project about controlling blood pressures with medication and lifestyle modifications. In the coming months, I also plan to work with Jim Liu, MD, in establishing a hypertensive clinic at our Upper Arlington location.
When I’m not at work, I love golfing, playing the piano, traveling, making specialty cakes and spending time with family and friends.

Thank you for conscientious care!
Beth is really good at making me feel listened to. She is warm and kind and well-informed on cardiology.
I had the best experience with Beth Short. I went to see her after experiencing strange sensations in my chest. My father had very recently died from a stroke due to afib. I was concerned due to my family history. Beth thoroughly listened to me, examined me, consulted my medical history, & asked me many questions. Although she did not believe my symptoms were cardiac related, she ordered tests & cardiac monitoring to be on the safe side. My mother accompanied me to this appointment, because she was concerned. (Beth was not only friendly to her, but she took time to talk to my mom about how SHE was doing after my father's death. She truly cared . Beth spent a lot of time with us to explain things & answer our questions. This was one of the BEST doctor visits I have ever had.
Thought the exam needed to be more thorough due to history
Had read my previous medical history. Took lots of time with me and getting everything straight that had happened the last few days with me.
All was good

Very personable and overall nice person
All good.
It felt like she didn't read the notes from the nurse about why I was there. She continually talked about a problem I wasn't even experiencing which was frustrating. The whole interaction felt condescending and like a huge waste of my time and money.
