About Me
As a family medicine nurse practitioner, I strive to provide compassionate, holistic care for patients across their lifespan. I’m passionate about health promotion and disease prevention, and wish to inspire and empower patients to take an active part in their care. I believe in a collaborative approach between the patient and myself to work together to achieve the goal of optimal health and wellness. Additionally, through my experiences serving both locally and overseas, I have developed a love and passion for working with people from various cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I first knew that I wanted to work in health care while on a mission trip in Choluteca, Honduras, in 2008. Our team was serving at a malnutrition clinic in a very impoverished community helping the staff care for the children there. I remember watching the staff caring for the children with so much love and compassion and thinking to myself, “This is what I want to do, care for people.” That inspired me to pursue a degree in nursing and then later become a family nurse practitioner. My compassion for people is what ultimately drives what I do and what has led me to where I am today. I believe caring for patients goes beyond just caring for their physical ailments but rather caring for the person as a whole. One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou and says, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” My hope is that patients under my care feel acceptance, support and compassion.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising and traveling. I’m also passionate about both local and global missions work and frequently travel to Central and South America for both medical and non-medical mission trips.
