About Me

As an ophthalmologist, I specialize in diseases of the cornea and external eye. I walk through available treatment options with patients and create an individualized care plan that could involve medication, an in-office procedure, or even surgery to relieve symptoms and help them get back to enjoying life. It's really rewarding when we find the best solution for the patient and even more so when I hear words of gratitude or receive a kind thank you note.

I love working at Ohio State because we have limitless opportunity for collaboration to handle complex cases, in addition to the latest treatments and newest equipment.

Common procedures I perform include cataract surgery, corneal transplantation (including PKP, DALK, DSEK, and DMEK), pterygium excision, corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, limbal stem cell transplants, and surgical excision of ocular surface neoplasia. In addition to my treatment of adult patients, I also treat cornea conditions in younger patients at the Eye Clinic at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

In my free time, I read fiction, am actively involved in my church, and spend time with my family.

She doesn't listen! I plainly told her I was there for a surgical consult, not getting care! I will be removing myself from your facility!

The provider was good overall, she did well to explain a lot to us. It did feel a bit rushed though, and we did not get all of our questions answered because we did not feel comfortable asking since she seemed to be pushing the appointment to end quickly.

Dr Martinez was great. I was referred to her by an optometry instructor for a scar on my cornea, so this was my 1st time seeing her. She explained everything and was able to reassue me. I was happy that she offered to see me in a year to check on the lesion.
