About Me
I am a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive experience treating advanced conditions impacting the face, jaw, head and neck. I am committed to restoring dental function and aesthetics to help my patients achieve a higher quality of life. As one of a few full-time, hospital-based oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Ohio, I also have the pleasure of working with patients from across the state.
I offer dental procedures such as implant surgery and wisdom teeth extractions, manage maxillofacial trauma and address infections of the face and neck. I diagnose and treat benign bone conditions, and perform reconstructive procedures and corrective jaw surgery for skeletal discrepancies. In addition, I have special expertise performing dental surgery for medically compromised patients and populations with special needs.
It’s a privilege to work at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and to collaborate with such devoted and enthusiastic colleagues. The oral and maxillofacial team collaborates daily with multidisciplinary experts in reconstructive dentistry, anesthesia and medicine to provide the most comprehensive and compassionate care possible for our patients.
I am passionate about practicing at the highest standard of care and contributing to research that moves my field forward. I have authored several chapters in literature about maxillofacial trauma and pathology and have published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals.
My role involves educating and mentoring the next generation of providers. I serve as a clinical instructor to both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents and dental students, and I am an associate clinical professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology in the College of Dentistry. I have been honored to be recognized for my teaching efforts. I received the Faculty Educator Development Award from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation.
Additionally, I serve on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery’s oral examination committee. I am a context expert and author for the Surgical Council on Resident Education for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Jatana has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
