Physical Therapist
I am a dedicated physical therapist with a strong belief in the power of exercise as medicine for sports and orthopedic injuries. I emphasize patient independence, ensuring that each individual is equipped with a personalized home program before discharge to foster long-term self-management and recovery.
My passion for sports medicine began as an undergraduate while competing on Ohio State’s club rugby team. There, I gained firsthand experience working with physical therapists in a competitive sports setting and developed an interest in return-to-sport decision-making. This foundation informs my individualized approach to coaching athletes through rehabilitation and back to peak performance.
I am also certified in dry needling, which I incorporates into care plans for patients experiencing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.
Outside the clinic, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, son, and dog. I also love mountaineering and exploring National Parks during my travels.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Rotella has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
