About Me
I am a primary care physician who specializes in preventive medicine. I enjoy coming to work every day knowing I have the opportunity to help my patients achieve a higher quality of life.
My patients can depend on me to be a partner in their health care journey. I rely on relationship-centered communication and empathic listening in order to provide the best care possible for each patient depending on their specific health needs. The most common conditions I treat in adult patients include obesity, hypertension, diabetes and depression.
I’m passionate about helping to train the next generation of physicians. I’ve been teaching medical students and residents for more than two decades. My previous position at the Northern Nevada Medical Center involved training internal medicine residents, with a focus on retaining physicians in an area that faced a shortage of primary care experts.
I’m excited to continue my medical practice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I appreciate Ohio State’s commitment to improving community health and the visionary thinking of the leadership teams.
In my free time, I love to read, cook, exercise and write my blog.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 10/25/2021, Dr. Patterson has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Friendly, attentive, sense of humor, relatable
Very astute, listened well, felt like he was really interested in me as a person rather than just another case.
Excellent. Very concerned. Informative.
He is a great listener & very professional and knowledgeable! I like him a lot.
Listened attentively. Answered questions.
Dr. Patterson listened to my current concerns as well as medical history - "My Chart" was very helpful in filling in any questions (dates, procedures, etc.) he had.
Awesome first visit with this doctor. He was very thorough with his exam and feedback.
Dr. Patterson is great doctor, no bad experience at all.
Excellent spirit, wonderful person and most attentive to small details concerning my overall health.
Listened to my concerns and gave very helpful advice
BETTER THAN what I expect of a provider.
This was a transfer of care. My provider for 25 years retired. Dr. Patterson was a good choice for me.
Excellent. Exceeded my expectations.
All good.

Dr. Patterson did an outstanding job during my visit in every aspect.
This was my initial visit. The doctor was incredibly kind and walked through my health concerns thoroughly. I was pleased.
Dr. Patterson was amazing! He actually listened to me and gave me hope.
REALLY liked him!! Very personable & genuinely seemed concerned about the things I was going through. Wasn't afraid to let me know if he.wanted a second opinion on something & referred me to 2 specialists. Really liked that. Left feeling like I had been heard & if he wasn't sure about something, he would find out. Haven't had that good an - experience with my family dr. Not even close!!
Excellent listener.
Good listener. Professional
Dr. Patterson was very good about listening to me and going over my medical history. He spent a lot of time with me and I appreciated that.
Dr. Patterson took an exceptional interest during this first visit to understand & investigate all medical issues. Very good!
Doctor Patterson was very thorough, concerned about my medical condition! He spent an ample amount of time with me.
Dr. Patterson is a very good doctor, and he patiently listened to my concerns, and offered solutions to my problems that I am satisfied with.
I am a new patient, and am exceedingly happy with thoughtfulness and the explanation of all of the symptoms that he indicated were in my chart. We discussed the ramifications. His handling of my condition far exceeded that of my previous Dr. I would recommend him to any or all of n my friends, A Breath of Fresh to have such a person as my new provider!!!!
Fabulous
Very engaged and knowledgeable of the questions I asked.
This was my FIRST visit tot he clinic and a new doctor. Was pleased with the appointment.
He was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a kinder, more thoughtful, caring physician. He listened to everything I said and asked follow up questions. He really cared that I was sick. I was amazed. He kept asking me if it was "okay" for him to talk to me about certain issues and if was "okay" that he would be doing an exam.
