About Me

As a board-certified family medicine physician with a specialization in adolescent medicine, I listen to my patients and build partnerships with them to help them achieve their unique healthcare goals. I am particularly interested in teen and adolescent medicine, specifically eating disorders, as well as preventive medicine and disease management. Some of the conditions I treat include hypertension, asthma, anxiety, depression and diabetes.

I am passionate about providing holistic care to patients by addressing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. I also love teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows and am humbled by the compliments I receive about my commitment to education.

As a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, I am honored to now serve as a faculty member. I received an outstanding education at Ohio State and was privileged to work with wonderful mentors. I strive to mentor current Ohio State students and residents with the same passion and dedication with which I was trained.

When I’m not working, I enjoy performing and listening to classical music, especially Baroque music. I am very involved in church music and serve as a church organist and accompanist. I also play the piano, trumpet and guitar, and enjoy reading about history and musical history. I like to exercise with weight training and cardio, and am a former swimmer. My family and I enjoy eating out and experiencing different kinds of foods from different cultures. My wife, Jennifer Middleton, is a faculty physician at OhioHealth, where she teaches family medicine residents at Riverside Hospital and is the system director for faculty development. We have two daughters, Clara and Margaret.

this was a very thorough exam. Dr. Banas was very professional, did not rush through the entire visit, listened very carefully. called me later in the evening with a test result that was higher than what it should be. This was the best visit with a physician that i've ever had. Thank you

Seemed to know my background before coming in. Generally the time to get an appointment is long - Should try & shorten by having more doctors accept new patients.

In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
