About Me
As a physician assistant at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in sports medicine knee surgery. I primarily see patients for knee pain, arthritis in the knee(s), meniscus tears, ACL tears and patellar dislocation. I treat each of my patients as if they are a family member by listening to them, educating them and helping them reach their ideal quality of life again.
At Ohio State, it’s clear that our physicians are inspired by the work and continue to learn their craft as the knowledge and tools implemented in their medical specialties continue to grow. They stay up to date with the latest research and perform the most cutting-edge surgeries and procedures.
In my free time, I enjoy golfing, including disc golf, as well as watching Ohio State basketball and football games.

Time Spent Together
4.7 out of 5
Dr Thompson took the time to bring up my MRI images of my knee to show and explain everything that was found, what normal should look like, and the degree of what they were seeing. I think that's the first time I have had that level of explanation done with the imaging to put it all together.
Provider was very efficient
Was very professional and nice .. Explain what my issue was and a solution for the problem
The imaging department was good. I'd rate them 4.5 stars out of 5. Quick and efficient, and friendly. The PA I saw was somewhat distant, however. He listened but didn't comment after I explained my injury and symptoms. I thought maybe some feedback would have been beneficial. He was fairly good in explaining his interpretation of the X-rays and his physical exam of my knee. But toward the end of the session he asked ME what I wanted out of this. Isn't it obvious when someone goes to a doctor? Diagnose and treat !So he asked if I wanted a shot, and maybe PT. I opted for PT, which I haven't started yet. I thought he could have done better.
Listens to my concerns and provides feedback
Good experience
Excellent patient care
He was polite. He did a thorough examination. He did not discuss his impression, but discussed treatment options.
David is very thorough and answered my questions
Very insightful, informative, respectful
Always professional and friendly
Provider has shown very little regard for me, my time or the care received.
Not really sure he listened to me. Seemed nonchalant.
He was great about explaining what I was looking at with my concern and my options.
While I am sure he is a good PA, he did not seem to be overly interested in my commentary on the injury and what I am trying to get done if I need to have surgery. Clearly didn't look at my history and express any desire to learn more about what was happening beyond perfunctory questions.
Dr David Was clear in explaning treatment and addressing my concerns.
Good
All good
The PA seems very knowledgeable and explained the different alternatives for care.
Again, excellent. Answered all questions and showed concern with my progress.
Great
Above and beyond explaining things.
Very knowledgeable and friendly
Excellent
Very Professional, Educational, Concerned & kind.
I was very satisfied with the care provider, who was not convinced by the suggested diagnosis from the care providers at OSU East, and he ordered X-rays which confirmed his own thoughts about the source of the pains in my left leg (that they were due to damage to the spinal cord/sciatic nerve rather than tendon/muscle tears).
A little disappointed that he poo-pooed the idea of soft tissue being involved.
He explained very well the results of my X-ray. Asked how I was doing, asked about my PT and did I have any questions.
Knowledgeable and friendly.
I go to David every time I have a sport related injury. He listens to me and gives it to me real. We banned her back-and-forth and seem to get along very well. Sometimes he goes above and beyond for me, which I really appreciate.
All good
All good!
One of my favs
Very personable and easy to talk to.
Good - Visit was to address a swelling in my right leg below the knee and around the knee. Made visit online (love) and then was asked to arrive early (via MyChart) for X-Rays of knee. X-Rays were done and read BEFORE my scheduled appointment - amazing!! Provider was able to review the x-rays, propose a possible diagnosis and then helped me schedule an echo of my leg to rule out a blood clot which was the primary concern.
Kindness
Very good cleaning
All good

Excellent
Informed
Listened to my concerns and discussed course of action.
Reasonable treatment for problem; asked for my opinion in that treatment
He was one of the most caring doctors. Very surprised on the first visit how much he cared. Immediately called about a followup appointment once he saw the mri results
He did not listen or care about what I was concerned with, he was late, rude, and dismissive. He clearly didn't want to work that day and told me surgery was my only option and said if I had a desk job, my knee wouldn't hurt so bad!
Great job, I felt comfortable and at ease with the checkup
Good and helpful
I was pleased
Very informative and helpful and willing to listen
A perfect 10
PA David was very through and answered all questions in regard to my appointment and his professional opinion on future treatment also.
He was not the PA in the OR with me, but he knew exactly what my surgical history was and did an excellent job with my first post-op visit. Listened to my only concern and prescribed appropriately. Great care.
David was excellent and skillful with the needle, which I truly appreciated.
Dave Thompson was excellent. He was very thorough. Understood my issue and was able to provide relief and options.
Friendly, knowledgeable
All good
He took extra time and care to explain the procedure and ordered preventative care for the a future visit.
