Biography

I am David Wolfe, PsyD, ABPP, and I specialize in psychology and psychology-addiction medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. My practice focuses on providing evidence-based psychological care that supports the emotional, behavioral and mental health needs of individuals across a range of mental healthcare concerns.

As a psychologist, I work collaboratively with patients to understand their unique experiences, identify treatment goals and develop personalized strategies that promote well-being and lasting change. I am committed to creating a supportive, respectful environment where patients feel heard and empowered throughout their care.

My approach emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered treatment and the use of established psychological therapies to help individuals navigate life challenges, improve coping skills and strengthen overall mental health. For patients affected by substance use and addiction-related concerns, I work to address both psychological and behavioral factors as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

I am Board Certified in Addictions Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and am dedicated to helping patients achieve meaningful improvements in their mental and emotional well-being.

Academics and research

I am David Wolfe, PsyD, ABPP, assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and I specialize in addiction research and recovery science. My research focuses on addiction treatment, recovery programs and strategies that support long-term health and well-being for individuals affected by substance use disorders.

Through my research, I work to better understand the factors that influence recovery and the effectiveness of programs designed to support people throughout the recovery process. I am interested in developing and evaluating approaches that improve access to care, strengthen recovery support systems and help individuals achieve sustainable recovery outcomes.

My work emphasizes translating research into practical solutions that can inform clinical care, community-based programs and health policy. By collaborating with healthcare professionals, researchers and community partners, I aim to advance evidence-based approaches that improve the lives of individuals and families affected by addiction.

Consulting and related relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, David Wolfe has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
